Tutoring in Pinecrest, FL
We have worked with families in Pinecrest and the 33156 area since 2016. Most of our Pinecrest work is in-home with a tutor, working from your child’s own assignments, in your child’s actual course, rather than a separate workbook programme running alongside school.
Not every student needs the same kind of tutor. Some of ours are certified teachers, and for a child with a foundational gap, a learning difference, or a subject they have lost confidence in, that training is what makes the difference. Others are strong academic specialists and for homework help, and for SAT, ACT and SSAT preparation, they are often the better match: closer to the material, quicker, and more current on how the tests are actually scored. Your academic advisor works out which your child needs before matching anyone.
The schools our Pinecrest students attend. Pinecrest Elementary, Palmetto Middle, Miami Palmetto Senior High. And on the private side, Gulliver Preparatory, Palmer Trinity, Ransom Everglades and Lourdes Academy, where we have worked with students for years. A tutor who already knows the school and its grading practice saves a family several weeks of discovery.
What Pinecrest families ask for most. Mathematics at every level a family trying to reach Algebra 1 Honors in 7th grade rather than 8th, because that single decision determines whether AP Calculus is reachable by 12th. Then test preparation: SAT and ACT for high school, SSAT and ISEE for families applying to independent schools. Then reading and language arts in the elementary years, where the gap is usually specific: decoding, fluency or comprehension.
Timing matters more here than families expect.
Our advice to every family is the same: act at the first C in a quarter in a core class, and do not wait for the spring.
Our tutors work with students from elementary through high school, including IB and AICE programmes, homeschool students, and children with special needs or learning differences.
Step Up scholarship families are welcome — we are a direct pay approved provider for FES-UA and PEP.

Moving to the Pinecrest area?
If you have just moved to Pinecrest. Families arriving from another state, or from the French, British or Spanish systems, hit a predictable set of problems, and none of them are about how capable the child is. Placement is not automatic: a child in an accelerated track elsewhere will not necessarily be placed in one here. And the curriculum is not aligned: Florida runs the B.E.S.T. Standards and assesses through FAST progress monitoring three times a year, so a child arriving in the autumn may be tested within weeks on material never taught to them. The score looks alarming and is usually alignment rather than ability but it is a real gap, and it does not close on its own.
